The Collapse Of American Leadership

We may be living through the time period where America is no longer considered the undisputed leader of the free world. That is not hyperbole. What the U.S. has done by pulling troops without notifying Afghanistan, NATO or American citizens is unforgivable. And the U.S. has 8 days to either leave or face consequences according to the Taliban. There is no way to remove all of our citizens, Allied personnel and designated Afghani in that time. Especially considering the Taliban have locked up Kabul with checkpoints every 100 feet to the airport. By the time the withdrawal of America and our allies are complete from Afghanistan we may be so diminished on the world stage that we may never recover. Why you ask?

  • America pulled troops out of Afghanistan prior to 9/11 purely for political reasons. Mainly, Biden never thought we should have been there in the first place and wanted to prove he was now the president and gets to call the shots. Second, Biden wanted the political talking point of having withdrawn from Afghanistan on or before the 20th anniversary of the twin tower bombings on 9/11.
  • This is such a massive blunder on the world stage that not even the liberal media can refuse to show this train wreck unfolding and cover it up or spin it for Biden.
  • Biden goes on national television to give updates on Afghanistan and is called out on his obvious lies by his own administration within hours.
  • Biden claims it was always going to be bad to leave Afghanistan. I am not a four star General or a rocket scientist (that makes me laugh because I actually am an Aerospace Engineer but I just like the phrase) but let me give you a clue. All these violent Islamic groups in that region fight during the 6 months of good weather surrounding the late spring, summer and early fall. It is universally known as the fighting season. The winter (cold) season was spent hunkered down mainly in Pakistan for these insurgent groups. If you do the math, the winter season is also 6 months. If we withdrew, American citizens, Afghan allies, NATO allies, equipment and American troops during the winter months we could have departed unopposed. We may have even given the Afghan government a couple of months to take the training wheels off and govern themselves without big brother watching over them.
  • We could have taken our pound of flesh for attacking the twin towers, ultimately killing Bin Laden and left. But no, we had to get involved in nation building. An argument could have been made early on that extreme Islamic rule is antithetical to democracy and we don’t have the right or ability to impose democracy in that region. However, after 20 years, two or more generations of people, living under our support we now own what happens to the people of Afghanistan. Right or wrong. Believe we should have been there or not. I never believed the phrase, “If you break it you own it.” But make no mistake we now own Afghanistan. We now own the shame of what happens to every gay person that gets stoned to death or pushed off the roof of a building. We own the shame every time a woman is killed for not wearing a burka or girls as young as five that are forced into marriage with a Taliban soldier.
  • We abandoned the Afghan people and NATO allies alike. Hell, we even abandoned U.S. citizens. Who among our friends and allies are going to trust us to lead moving forward? Germany has already said that NATO allies in Europe are going to have to meet to decide what the future looks like moving forward. British parliament has condemned Biden over lack of leadership in Afghanistan.
  • We have allies around the world that depend on strong American leadership to keep them safe. China has already used propaganda to threaten Taiwan.
  • America’s diminished leadership on the world stage is only going to embolden our enemies.
  • We have just emboldened every Islamic terrorist group to make attacks on America for a long time to come.

I sincerely hope we can get everyone out of Afghanistan safely. We have 8 more days.
