Last Sunday morning I watched a video of Alec Baldwin and his wife that was taped last Saturday on the side of a rural road in Vermont. Against a sheriff’s explicit instructions not to talk to anyone about the shooting case on the set of Rust. Against (I can only imagine) advice from his lawyer to stay silent. Against (I can only imagine) advice from his PR team to shut the hell up. But no, Alec Baldwin is the smartest man in the room (in his own mind). He took it upon himself to pull off the side of the road and hold an impromptu interview with several paparazzi. You know. Paparazzi. People as a group not well known for their understanding, compassion or privacy. People who spend 99.93% of their professional time with a camera rather than a pen and paper. These are the people that Alec Baldwin decides to stop and converse.
As I am watching this video, random thoughts start running through my mind.
- Alec Baldwin still has not learned to control his emotions, specifically anger.
- Not listening to the sheriff against talking is probably going to have legal consequences.
- Nothing positive with public perception or Mr. Baldwin’s possible legal issues will come out of him ranting to paparazzi on the side of a road.
- Alec Baldwin and his wife need to have their cell phones surgically removed from their respective hands.
The biggest take away for me was when he said to the effect that he knew nothing about guns. It struck me because as one of the lead actors in a western that was handling guns extensively, he should have had at least had a gun safety course. It also struck me that as one of the producers responsible for the movie, he was responsible for everything on the set and would need more than personal gun safety training. After letting all of this percolate in the ‘ol noggin for a couple days I watched the video again on Wednesday. On the Wednesday video I could not find the clip of Alec Baldwin saying he knew nothing about guns. Now I could have misheard the original video, I could have misheard the second video or someone could have removed that segment of clip from the video.
In any case, Alec Baldwin WTH dude?
